A slightly better pause menu with options - The pause menu is nice for looking at all the stats, of course. The main feature it's lacking though is an options button for changing options mid-game. Suppose someone wants to turn down or up their volume or change a keybind or two and they don't wanna lose out on a potential god run. They have to quit out the game and lose that.
I had a number of suggestions relevant to this on the Discord, too long for a single comment, bear with me:When switching Control Scheme in settings, don't reset customized controls (ie. custom keyboard) back to default. Currently, it resets, losing customized controls.
- "Define Keyboard Controls" and "Define Mouse Controls" are nearly the same except for the title; consolidate them into a single "Define Keyboard/Mouse Controls." - Add "Custom" to the available options for Control Scheme (after all, it already displays "Custom Keyboard" after defining controls, but there's no way to toggle back to it if you switch.) Preserve what controls have been set for this mode.
Either:- Add "Reset to Keyboard defaults", "Reset to WASD defaults", and "Reset to Mouse defaults" options in the "Define Keyboard/Mouse Controls" screen. Since the current function is to begin customizing with the controls from the mode selected in Control Scheme, you'd need all of these to not lose any.- Or move the "Keyboard", "WASD", "Mouse", and "Custom" choice into its own entry on the "Define Keyboard/Mouse Controls" screen, and let you customize and reset each of them individually.
Related, using a controller with custom binds (RT to thrust, A to fire, etc), and A, RT, and Y all act as "Confirm", which is occasionally obnoxious when upgrading. Explicit Confirm/Cancel binds that are exclusive would be real nice. Also, the option to have Directional steering use the other stick.
Having the option of assigning two different keys for a same action would be great (for example, having both LMB and S key for shooting would just be perfect for me)

Great idea! We need to be able to "click" on mods we currently own to see the Mod tree it belongs to and all the mod trees/super mods it unlocks. (example = Evolution -> Interceptor / Guardian, maybe not full trees but the initial mods)on the topic of information clarity, I think score screen should also record our Stats on death (just like pausing = hull total, shield total, resistance to self damage, all the stats. Like Slay the Spire-level-of-details-of-the-run)
oh I forgot to add = better pause/quit confirm reminds me of another possible quit feature = Save?i mean we don't need multiple save slots, just the ability to continue a run we quit on from the main menu. again, like slay the spire :p
As described it would be nice to be able to access the settings from the pause menu, so you could change up things since different builds sometimes would be more efficient with different settings/keybinds. AND/OR It would be great to "save and quit" a run, maybe so that its only possible at certain points, like every 5 waves or 5th upgrade. And then so it would be disabled in runs/mods where it could give an advantage to pause and strategize (if that is even a thing).

Yea some stuff is missing in the settings. What I also miss is a separate fader for sfx and music, I want to have a blast with the great soundtrack at night too without loud explosions :D
@MrMeeseeks, if you switch to the "experimental branch" this works, along with several other new features. Other suggestions in this thread, like accessing settings from pause, and a quit confirmation, are now present there as well.

In settings allow quick quit checkbox, this way it accommodates players who want to quickly quit the game
The last update does this, doesn't it?
Previously "Stabilize" was mapped to left-stick down. Now it defaults to left-stick pressed and cannot be used as left-stick down. I'd like to see the option to have the older style of stabilize which was a lot easier on the hands and (to me) more intuitive.
Would be nice to be able to access the stats screen directly from the level up screen. Navigating between the two is a bit unpractical at the moment and checking your stats can be useful to choose your upgrade.
